At From the Ground Up Healing, we embrace the art of holistic healing, seeing the horse as the beautifully interconnected being it is. We take into account the synergy of nutrition, hoof health, teeth, and environment when assessing the space of the physical body. These Five Pillars of Wellness are the heartbeat of our approach—when these are in balance, the horse’s energy flows freely and true healing can take place, not only physically, but mentally and spiritually as well. If one pillar is out of balance, the whole horse is affected. We honor this sacred balance to nurture the spirit, body, and soul of every horse we touch by seeing through the lens of the whole horse.
I didn’t have a “typical” start in the equine community, though I grew up with dogs my whole life and was always that little girl that strays would follow home. I didn’t grow up with horses, lessons, barn-time, etc. other than pony rides at summer camps, but I was hooked from that first moment. It wasn’t until I came to Colorado for CSU’s veterinary program and completed my undergraduate there in Equine Science that my passion really started to take shape. I immediately joined a club at CSU called Mountain Riders Horse Club where I really got the chance to explore horses more and create relationships with these amazing animals. I then bought my lease horse, Belle, through the club and became a horse-owner for the first time when I was already 20 years old. The more I learned and experienced, the more I compared myself to other people my age who grew up with horses and had so much more knowledge and experience than me, but I learned to shift my perspective and be grateful for the time I have now with horses and it happened this way for a reason- it ignited me and helped pave my journey. Without having horse experience, I wouldn’t have joined the horse club and would have never met Belle, which means I would have never boarded at the barn where I met my future second horse, a foal named Keoki. Without having met Keoki and now having two horses, I would have never found the barn I landed at today, which means I wouldn’t be on this path.
I boarded at Heartsong Pastures, where I started an internship learning the experiences I have now. Through this internship, I started my training and certifications in equine and canine massage, myofascial release, barefoot trimming, whole-foods and herbs, acupressure, level one masterson method, kinesiology taping, energy work, rehabilitation, and more! Through this internship and the collaborative community around my barn, I now know what my “purpose” and journey is all about- still pursuing a veterinary degree like I’ve dreamed about since I was two, but then combining western medicine with holistic practices and healing to help achieve whole-body health and wellness in equines and canines. I strongly believe there is room at the table for both practices and I believe the more we combine holistic healing and maintenance with western medicine, the happier and healthier our animals can be. The ultimate goal is to become a holistic equine vet with a mobile business, but also have on-site rehabilitation clinic. I invite you to join me on this journey as I continue to share experiences and knowledge with other professionals and owners, so we can all grow together. As a community, when we know better, we do better for our four-legged teachers and healers.
After recently graduating with my Bachelors in Equine Science, I am now pursuing more equine veterinary experience while I grow my bodywork business, before diving back into school to pursue my DVM.
Dedicated to Mully and Diesel. My soul dog that really started it all, and my heart kitty who supported this journey. They both supported me through the long nights studying and learning, and now they guide me from the stars. ✨
